Abbots Hall Lodge No.6205 was consecrated at the Masonic Hall, Loughton on Tuesday 26 February 1946 by Brig. Gen. K Kincaid Smith, RW. Provincial Grand Master, assisted by Dr A. G. Duncan, Assistant Provincial Grand Master together with other distinguished Brethren.

History

Records show that ninety-three Brethren dined, with the total cost of the evening – including drinks and the provision of 400 cigarettes -being £58. 8s. 0d!

The sponsoring Lodge was Ingrebourne No. 3345, with whom our members have enjoyed a happy and close association that has prospered over the years, and with whom we  share both our Lodge of Instruction and  our Chapter of Improvement.

The first regular meeting of Abbots Hall Lodge Hall Lodge took place at the St Laurence Church Hall Upminster on Tuesday 19th March 1946 when the 16 founders were present together with 37 visitors.

Members of the lodge were active alongside those of the other two local lodges, Ingrebourne No, 3345 and St Laurence No. 5511, in helping to build, furnish and provide the original facilities in the new Masonic Hall at Deyncourt Gardens, to which the Lodge moved in March 1948.
In the first 40 years of the lodge’s existence there were 67 initiates and 42 Brethren joined from other lodges. With the founders there have been a total of 125 members, present membership being 26. Members are able to meet for Instruction on most Thursday evenings under the auspices of the Ingrebourne Lodge of Instruction No. 3345. The ritual working used is Emulation.

Attached to the lodge, a Royal Arch Chapter of the same name was formed in 1949. This currently has 25 members.
The Lodge which meets on the third Tuesday in the months of January, March (Installation), May, September and second Wednesday in December celebrated its 200th  on 17th September 1985.  The Lodge celebrated its 60th Anniversary in 2006 and we are looking forward with confidence to celebrating our 75th in 2021.
