History

We are a small lodge but always hoping to grow. We have members of various ages from 75 to 25, but it’s a good mixture .  The elder members are still very active in encouraging the younger members is all the aspects of Freemasonry , wither it be in Ritual, Charity donation or our social side .

We meet at The Square , Deyncourt Gardens Upminster , Essex  , 4 Times a year  , 3rd Wednesday in March  ( installation ) 3rd Wednesday in June , 1st Wednesday in September and the 3rd Wednesday in December ( our Christmas meeting ) when we enjoy a good singalong of carols, and the old favourite a rendition of the Twelve days of Christmas . The Meal is also very special at this time , not Turkey we have a tradition of carving and serving Roast rib of beef to our members and visitors , for those who are avid meat eaters , Fish is supplied as a preference for those who have dietary needs.

Our Lodge Of Instruction meets at the Crossed Keys Masonic Centre , Chadwell st Mary  nr Tilbury  on most Weds of the year  , with exception of those dates stated above , either to rehearse a ceremony or just a catch up , beverages are available for those who partake of a beer or something. It provides a good way of getting to know other members , as I always claim that 4 meetings a year is not really sufficient to do this , the attendance at LOI , is varied from the basic 6 members who live locally to 10 when a ceremony is rehearsed.

Its also at the Crossed Keys we hold our  Quiz nights  and other sociable functions , the quiz night always attracts approximately 40 persons in teams of various sizes ,with the winners receiving prizes ,donated by the members .
