History

The inception of the idea for a new Lodge meeting in the environs of Romford, Essex took place during informal meetings during 1944 when brethren who were looking forward to the end of the Second World War agreed it would be a constructive gesture  'To form a new Lodge after the war' which would contribute to the peace and harmony between men as a new brighter future unfolded.

Consequently Tuscan Lodge was consecrated on July 31st 1945 at Freemasons Hall, Great Queen Street, London, just over two months after VE Day on May 8th. The Founders lived and worked locally, many as engineers at the Ford plant in Dagenham. This connection with Ford's continues although a wider range of occupations is now represented. The Lodge has met at several masonic centres over the years but now resides at Upminster Masonic Centre, Deyncourt Gardens, RM14 1DF. The current brethren aim to maintain the Lodge traditions of a good standard of work and strong support for charity, both masonic and locally.

The Lodge has five meetings each year always on the second Friday in the months of October, November, January, March and April.

If you would like to know more about Tuscan Lodge, charity giving and social functions for family and friends, please contact the secretary by e-mail.
