Chafford Lodge  No 5510 was formed by local shopkeepers  in the Romford area and consecrated on the 31st January 1935 at the Grecian Temple, Abercom Rooms, Great Eastern Hotel, Liverpool Street Station By the Provincial Grand Master,  Brig Gen Sir Richard Beale Colvin K.C.B.

Our Membership

As a Lodge which is over 80yrs old we have many established traditions which have been incorporated since the formation of the Lodge and developed over the past 80yrs and we are willing to accept worthwhile changes which enhance our Lodge traditions.

Our ages range from mid 20s to the 80s.  Our members are from many different professions / backgrounds such as construction, banking, police force, automotive and leisure industries etc.  The members of the Lodge generally live, but not restricted to the Essex area.

We welcome decent honest and trustworthy men who want to become Masons and learn about the history and mysteries of Freemasonry and who want to be part of a worldwide fraternity whose members enjoy each others company

Where and when

The Chafford Lodge meets four times a year at the Upminster Masonic Hall in Deyncourt Gardens Upminster which conveniently is only a short walk from Upminster Station for those who wish to travel by train.  There are also good bus services nearby.

The regular meeting dates are

Third Thursday in February (Installation).

Third Thursday in May.

Second Thursday in September.

Third Thursday in November.

Generally meetings start at 5pm this is followed by a meal (festive board) at the centre, with members and visiting guests from other lodges.  For those wishing to continue after the meal the fully licensed bar at the centre is open
