Provincial Junior Grand Warden, Paul Harris presents Welcome Packs to initiates at two Hutton Lodges
The last full week of November was an enjoyable one for Paul Harris, the Provincial Junior Grand Warden. In addition to his many other Provincial responsibilities, Paul was pleased to personally welcome two new initiates into Freemasonry whose lodges both meet at Hutton Masonic Hall four times a year.
On Monday 20th November, accompanied by Provincial Grand Steward Richard Swan, at the Round Table of Essex Lodge No. 8217, the initiate, Alan Woodrow, was welcomed by Paul and on Tuesday 21st November, escorted by Bernie Smith also a Provincial Grand Steward, it was Blake MacDonald who was welcomed at the Lodge of Hope and Unity No. 214, which was founded 228 years ago on 22nd November 1795.
On both occasions, our Provincial Junior Grand Warden felt privileged to present the newly made brothers with an Initiate’s pack which is provided by the Province, from the Provincial Grand Lodge Office, and includes a welcome from the Provincial Grand Master, Paul Tarrant. The pack also includes the Initiates Guide which is an introduction to Freemasonry and an explanation of the ceremony they have just been through. Also included is helpful information from the Provincial Mentor and the Provincial Communications Team along with the words to the opening and closing odes.
Paul’s own Masonic career is well known by many throughout the Province and he has good advice for all new initiates into Freemasonry. Paul said “Visit another Lodge to see a First Degree and I encourage Proposers, Lodge Membership Officers, Lodge Mentors and other younger Lodge members to take them on a visit.” Paul added “If under 41years-old, do encourage them to join Cornerstone.”
