Essex Charity Steward’s ingenuity during Pandemic helps raise £1,100

Essex Freemasons from the Sweyn Lodge No 4764 and local Councillors went to ‘The Fitzroy Transforming Lives Charity Home,’

This sum was made possible by the hard work of the Sweyn Lodge, Charity Steward, Ian Krise, who organised monthly prize draws during the pandemic greatly increasing the donations to their Lodge Relief Chest.

Fitzroy Transforming Lives is a national registered charity with their mission to support adults with a wide range of learning disabilities and physical health conditions, that often go hand in hand with their diagnosis.

Ian, accomapnied by Councillor‘s Robert Milne and Sarah-Jane Page presented the donation to Mel Simpson, the Fitzroy Service Manager at Timber Grove, with residents and staff present.

Councillor Jill Waight had kindly arranged the print of a large cheque bearing the Essex Province logo for the presentation, which was proudly held for the photograph by Mark, a resident of the home.

Mel Simpson said on being presented with the cheque, “I would like to say how grateful we are here to receive any donation, but for it to be another very generous one is amazing.

All money raised really does go directly to the people we support here at Timber Grove in Rayleigh and after such a confusing and restrictive couple of years, we can use the money to go towards them really making the most of 2023 and getting ‘out and about,’ enjoying life and the community again.”

The members of the Sweyn Lodge are justly proud of their Charity Steward, Ian, for his ingenuity in raising monies during those difficult times of the pandemic.
