Maldon Masonic Hall hosts successful Rose Croix Awareness Evening
Successful Rose Croix Awareness Evening hosted by Coromandel Chapter very much appreciated by all in attendance
Coromandel Chapter No. 27 Rose Croix held an Awareness Evening at Maldon Masonic Hall on Wednesday 19th July with over 30 Brethren attending. Consecrated in Madras (now Chennai) in 1869 the Chapter transferred to Essex in October 1973 where it is the oldest registered Chapter.
The eagle-eyed will recognise the Sovereign’s Throne which appears on the Cover of the book ‘The Master’s Chair’. Ornately hand carved in local wood the Chair remained in Madras at the District Grand Lodge building until its relocation in Maldon. On their travels throughout India, if members were invited to a meeting but did not have their regalia with them it was considered acceptable to wear a red rose. Several short talks about more of the Chapter’s incredible history plus an explanation of Rose Croix in Essex and the regalia were given by Jim McCreadie, John Foster and David Foster.
With Brian Foulkes, Inspector General for North Essex, and Clive Coe, District Recorder also present, this all made for a most successful ‘Awareness Evening’ which was followed by a very enjoyable Fish and Chip Supper with two brethren signing up to join the Order, two more in the pipeline and several having expressed a keen interest.
