In the Master’s Chair for the Centennial Celebratory Meeting, 100-year-old Reg Sheppard also delivered the Traditional History

On the 14th October 2023 Danehurst Lodge No. 4541 held its Centenary meeting at Chingford Masonic Hall with 60 brethren in attendance. What made this a particularly unique occasion is that the Master of the Lodge, W.Bro Reginald Sheppard, is also 100 years old.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, VW. Bro Nick Franklin, accompanied by Clive Rees, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master responsible for the Lodge. They were accompanied by the Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies, Chris Sullivan.

At the meeting the Lodge raised Bro David Marsh with the Traditional History delivered in an excellent manner by the Worshipful Master. An abridged history of the Lodge was given by the Lodge Secretary, John Mansfield, and the Lodge voted donations to ten small local charities, one for each decade of the Lodge’s existence.

Nick Franklin then presented the Lodge with a Centenary Certificate on behalf of the Provincial Grand Master, RW. Bro Paul Tarrant, and also announced that in recognition for his 55 years of service to the Lodge and to the Province, the Provincial Grand Master had been pleased to grant a field promotion to Reg Sheppard to the relatively rare rank of Past Provincial Senior Grand Warden. He then presented W.Bro Reg Sheppard PPSGW with his badges of rank to great approval by the attendees.

The brethren then dined with the menu reproducing some aspects of the menu served at the original Consecration Dinner in 1923. Entertainment after dinner was provided by vocalist Tony B.
