Clive Dunnico celebrates over 50 years in Royal Arch
Celebrating a significant milestone in Royal Arch and being a part of a unique dynasty
The Old Brentwoods Chapter No. 5342 (London) celebrated a very special event during Monday 18th September 2023, that being celebrating Clive Dunnico’s over 50 years in the Royal Arch.
The meeting held at Freemasons Hall, London was attended by Robert Chaproniere, 2nd Metropolitan Grand Principle, Simon White, Assistant Metropolitan Grand Superintendent and from Essex, Paul Tarrant, Provincial Grand Superintendent of Essex, and John Hubbard, Essex 3rd Grand Principle.
Clive was exalted into Danehurst Chapter No. 4541 (Essex) during September 1972. Perhaps because the Chapter met at Chingford, nowhere near his home or work, he resigned in 1975. He was persuaded to join the Old Brentwoods Chapter in 1984 where he had a distinguished career including becoming the First Principal in 1989 and holding the office of Scribe Ezra for 15 years. He was also the Second Principal of London First Principals Chapter in 2013.
Clive has also had a distinguished Lodge career and in Essex by joining the Aldborough Lodge No. 5586 in 1964. He was its Worshipful Master on two occasions and held the office of Secretary for 21 years. During 2008 he served the Province as its Provicial Senior Grand Warden.
A solicitor by profession, since 2011 he has been the Chairman of the Trustees of the Association of Friends of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent Court, Stisted, Essex. He is a keen runner and has completed 14 London Marathons raising in excess of £25,000 for charity. In March 2013 Clive celebrated his 50 years in Freemasonry at a meeting of New Welcome Lodge No. 5139 (London), attended by both the Pro Grand Master and the Provincial Grand Master for Essex, and this year in March celebrated his 60 years in Freemasonry.
Clive can also claim to be part of a Masonic Dynasty as his Grandfather was the Reverend Sir Herbet Dunnico who played an important role during the building of Freemasons Hall, Great Queen Street and his Father, Herbert Rathbone Dunnico also had a long and distinguished Masonic career serving in office for most of his 52 years, which commenced with a special dispensation as he was only 20 years and 11 months old at his initiation.
Between them, in Freemasonry, they have served an incredible 147-years and counting…
