Canute Chapter celebrates its Centenary Meeting

Centenary Meeting celebrates all that is good about the Royal Arch and in fine style

The 330th Convocation of the Canute Chapter No. 3104 in the grandeur setting of the Old Court House, Rochford during Saturday 29th April 2023 was a little special as this was their Centenary meeting.

In attendance was the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent (MEGS), Paul Tarrant, the Deputy Grand Superintendent, Elliott Chevin, the second and third Provincial Grand Principals, David Wilson & John Hubbard together with other Provincial retinue.

The Provincial Grand Scribe Ezra, Richard Jordan read out the Centenary Certificate which was then presented to the Principals by Paul Tarrant.

John Hubbard gave an oration of the Chapter paying tribute to the founding Fathers and past Principals and Companions who have contributed to the long and distinguished history. He mentioned in particular, John Rundlett, who served as both the Provincial Deputy Grand Superintendent and Deputy Provincial Grand Master and Chris Clark, who served as Deputy Grand Superintendent for London.

Thanks also were given to Robert Barrett and several others for the compilation and printing of Chapter history together with 'behind the scenes' preparations for the meeting.

There followed a fascinating demonstration of 'The Ceremony of the Veils' which was performed by a team from the Provincial Grand Stewards Chapter No. C8665. This was very well received by all present adding to this already special occasion.

The evening was rounded off with a sumptuous Festive board enjoyed by all with appreciation for the centre staff who ensured the event ran smoothly.
