Victorian Chapter meets Professor Chris Booth to learn more about CHAPS

CHAPS talk a huge success at Victorian Chapter and a cheque for £500 goes to a truly worthwhile cause

On 26 June, at the The Square, the Masonic Centre in Upminster, in the absence of a candidate or other work, Victorian Chapter No. 2184 invited Professor Chris Booth to give a talk on the way in which Freemasonry is helping to spearhead the early diagnosis of Prostate Cancer.

Chris, a retired urologist, has been promoting the Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test for many years and, under the banner of CHAPS The Men's Health Charity, from a small start in the Province of Essex, the offer of free tests to Freemasons has grown to a countrywide facility. Chris spoke clearly, concisely and with authority on the subject on which he is an expert, and on a topic acutely relevant to his audience. Many questions followed his presentation and he answered them all in an easy to understand way.

At the conclusion of the talk the Chapter presented him with a cheque for £500 for CHAPS which reflected the esteem in which he is held. Chris is always willing to come along and explain his work so if an opportunity arises in your Chapter or Lodge please invite him to speak.

The message is clear: Get a free PSA test regularly. So if you see the CHAPS tests advertised go along. It's just a simple blood test which could save your life.
