Waltham Abbey Chapter on the Up! First Convocation

The Companions of Waltham Abbey Chapter No 2750, held their first Convocation in 2022 on Tuesday 25th January

The Companions of Waltham Abbey Chapter No 2750, which meets at Chingford Masonic Hall, held their first Convocation in 2022 on Tuesday 25th January at which they were pleased to welcome their Assistant to the Principal Grand Principals (APGP), David Wilson.

At the Convocation, Mark Russell, a Past First Principal, exalted Chris Hales into the Royal Arch in a superb ceremony, ably assisted by Gary Brown as Principal Sojourner. Also, Jeff Goddard and Shuan Weatherhead were presented with their Supreme Grand Chapter Certificates by David Wilson.

With more Exaltees lined-up for the future, David Wilson commented "It is really enjoyable to see that those Brethren who have been waiting to complete their journey in Pure Antient Masonry are now joining Royal Arch Chapters. In doing so they are enriching their Craft experience."

Vic Britton, the Treasurer, said “At one time the Chapter was low in numbers with only six dining. However, the Chapter is back on the way up. With new Exaltees coming on and building a link with Eton Manor Lodge for Brethren to join. The Chapter now has 20 members.”

When Waltham Abbey Chapter was consecrated in 1947, one of the Principals Designate was Charles Littler Smith who was a member of 56 Craft Lodges, 51 Chapters and 52 Mark Lodges. A very busy and dedicated Mason indeed.

The photograph shows the Principals of the Chapter along with the last three Exaltees. In the background can be seen the banners depicting the Ox, the Man, the Lion and the Eagle. All of which can be found on the UGLE Coat of Arms and further enforces the indissoluble link between the Craft and the Royal Arch.
