Weald Lodge No. 2707 makes a £3,000 SNAP decision!

During his year as Worshipful Master of Weald Lodge No.2707 which meets at Hutton Masonic Hall, Michael Mulqueen chose SNAP (Special Needs and Parents) a local charity based in Warley for his Master’s List.
Three members of the Lodge visited SNAP’s offices to present a cheque for £3,000 and were given a tour by their Fundraising Manager, Sara Clifton and also met with their Chief Executive Officer, Karen Boath.
From very small beginnings SNAP has grown in terms of the number people they assist together with the many other services they provide. Jim Anderson, the Weald Lodge Treasurer and Charity Steward said “They could not thank us enough for our generosity which was warmly appreciated. All the Lodge members were pleased to assist this very worthwhile charity and we would urge other Lodges and Chapters in the areas covered, to bear them in mind for future consideration.”
About SNAP:
Since 1994 SNAP has supported Essex families who have children, aged 0-25, with any additional need or disability. We aim to inform, encourage and support parents so that they can grow in strength and knowledge and become better equipped to give the best possible help to their children. The overriding principle of our work is to help and empower the whole family.
The children and young people we support have a wide variety of disabilities including autistic spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, sensory impairment, physical disabilities, visual impairment, speech and language difficulties and learning disabilities. No formal diagnosis is needed to access our services.
In response to the needs of local families we have developed a variety of services including a helpline, specialist library, online directory, talks on specific conditions and specialist topics, and a range of therapeutic and developmental activities for children such as music therapy, drama, pre-school sessions, multi-sensory activities, plus after school clubs and activities during school holidays.
More than 3,800 families are currently receiving help from SNAP. Of these 1,016 families are based in Brentwood and an additional 1,037 are based in the surrounding areas of Billericay, Basildon, and Wickford.
